As a website designer and SEO specialist I preorder Mike Monahan's book each year because he is the most up to date on all the search engine algorithm changes. And without exception getting this book right away has helped me answer question I had about why some of my customers websites are quickly falling off the search engines like flies even though the are optimized. At least optimized for last years rules and not the latest. I find the value of the information in this book a thousand times the cost of the book. I like to keep up on the latest SEO tips and strategies
As for those that are new to SEO, this book focuses on creating findable websites that are not just optimized for search engines but are accessible, usable; and value informative, pertinent content before anything else. There are lots of tips and tricks for people who like them and also insights into how to use Google Analytics. So you won't be disappointed. I find this book standing in stark contrast to most other "SEO" books. This book clearly states what it takes to build and optimize findable websites without resorting to jargon or marketing gimmicks.
God bless.

This book does an excellent job of covering a lot of what you need to know about SEO. It explains what you need to know about every part of SEO, SEM, and the new term SMO. It also gives good advice for those with novice to intermediate SEO knowledge who want to understand the big picture of how SEO works and get acquainted with many of the online resources. I like the easy reading style of the book showing step-by-step instructions using actual computer screen images of everything you need to know.

It seems kind of early for a 2011 book but I guess they need a semi-yearly book to keep up with the changes. As for this book however it is a well organized book on search engine optimization. Not every possible idea is covered by this book, but enough to have significantly improved the overall ranking of my website. If your website needs improvement without difficult code and hard to learn topics, the author obviously knows his stuff and tells how it is without cryptic explanations.

My website too was dropping and I couldn't figure out why. This book points out the changes from last year and it helps to understand that so that you can stay on top.

This book has most of the pertinent information for SEO, but compared to other books, the writing style is relatively poor and feels like it was rushed out the door to make a quick buck. The book has notes by someone named Jen scattered throughout the chapters, which point out all the problems with this author's typos, grammar and sentence structure. Yes, the author was so lazy he didn't even bother to heed the notes (all the typos, incoherent thoughts, and grammatical problems remain intact), nor remove them from the final product.
If you're a beginner, skip this book. There are other books out there that use better examples to help novice users to get a grasp around the concepts presented.
If you're looking for the "Secrets for 2011" -- well, these deal mainly with Bing and mobile site development and are a total of about 6 or 7 pages. Perhaps it's worth a skim at a local bookstore, but not worth the price of this entire book.
